Vintage BATIK “kain panjang” Northern JAVA Indonesia

Vintage MINT condition, circa 1950’s Java, gorgeous rare magenta red “kain panjang” (long cloth) Indonesian batik. This was part of my aunt’s collection. The motif and colors are reminiscent of the batiks from the ancient port city of Cirebon. “Graceful vines and leafy tendrils spiral around abstract” flowers and birds. The “kepala” (border) has triangular designs with birds and flowers in colors of black, tan and red. Exceptionally finely woven cotton. Length is approx. 95” length and width is approx 41”.
