Reflections - Rosenthal studio-line
Philip Rosenthal (1916 - 2001) was a man of the word.
He liked to combine his thoughts in short aphorisms - sometimes provocatively, sometimes quietly - but always true and with a large dose of humor.
The vase design "Gedankenblitze" brings the most beautiful quotations from Philip Rosenthal in his jubilee year with one of the historically oldest forms of presentation and highlighting: the podium.
This universal base, made of porcelain, displays the quotations and vases on it, refined in gold, platinum or luster technique, and gives them additional significance.
Product Description
Philip Rosenthal (1916–2001) was a man of words. He summarised his thoughts in short aphorisms, which were at times provocative and at others gentle, but always true and tinged with plenty of humour. In this anniversary year, the “Gedankenblitze” vase design brings together the best quotes of Philip Rosenthal in one of the oldest forms of display – the pedestal. Finished in gold and platinum, and using lustre techniques, this universal porcelain stand highlights the featured quotes and vases, lending them added significance. Sphere, goblet, amphora. Charlotte von der Lancken plays with three historical archetypes in her vase collection. It is fitting, therefore, that she has raised the vases on a pedestal. Yet nothing is what it seems, as the pedestal itself is surprisingly part of the vase – together with the sphere, goblet and amphora. The Swedish designer clearly rethinks firmly established design formats, has a distinct flair for storytelling, and produces designs with a tongue-in-cheek attitude. And that is precisely why the following can be found on the pedestal: the razor-sharp „Gedankenblitze“ (sudden inspiration) of the wordsmith Philip Rosenthal, to whom the anniversary collection is dedicated. After all, he once said: „Whoever eats all the grains he‘s found is himself a blind cockerel.“
